How Silent Hour works

A structured mindfulness practice — not a blank timer. Sessions move through clear phases, then you reflect, track progress, and build habits over time.

Quick start

  1. Open the app and go to the Dashboard.
  2. Pick a session template or tap Build Session to customize.
  3. Follow the phases — pause, skip, or end anytime; progress is saved on your device.
  4. After practice, add a journal entry and check Insights for patterns.

The practice loop

Silent Hour is built around a simple rhythm you can repeat every day:

  • Choose a session (template or custom) with a practice mode and intention.
  • Practice through guided phases with prompts and optional ambient sound.
  • Reflect in the journal when you are ready — optional but encouraged.
  • Review streaks, goals, and insights to see how your practice evolves.

Phase-based sessions

Every ritual session flows through five phases instead of a single countdown:

  • Arrival — settle in and leave urgency behind.
  • Attunement — notice your body and surroundings.
  • Stillness — the core quiet practice.
  • Reflection — integrate what arose during stillness.
  • Return — close gently and carry calm into what comes next.

Each phase has timed guidance and prompts. You can pause, skip a phase, or end the session early; completed time is still recorded.

Practice modes & intentions

When you build or start a session, you choose:

Practice mode

  • Forest — nature, trees, and open space.
  • Urban — stillness within the rhythm of city life.
  • Indoor — sanctuary in your personal space.

Intention

Intentions shape the tone of prompts and journal suggestions: Clarity, Calm, Release, Grounding, or Renewal. Pick what matches how you want to show up today.

Dashboard & session builder

The Dashboard shows your streak, session count, and quick-start templates. Use Session Builder to set duration, mode, intention, and phases to fit your schedule.

Journal

After a session — or anytime — open Journal to capture reflections, mood, and notes. Entries stay on your device and can be tied to intentions and emotional states for later review in History.

Goals, streaks & insights

  • Goals — set practice targets (sessions per week, minutes, streaks).
  • Streaks — consecutive days of practice; shown on the dashboard.
  • Insights — charts and patterns from your session and journal history.

Breathing & meditations

Beyond ritual sessions, Silent Hour includes:

  • Breathing exercises — visual guides with patterns like box breathing, 4-7-8, and playlists that chain techniques.
  • Meditation library & timer — standalone guided or timed practices when you want something lighter than a full phased session.

Your data stays private

Sessions, journals, and goals are stored only on your device. There are no accounts, no ads, and no sale of personal data. Export or delete everything from Settings → Data Management.

Works offline

After the first load, core features work without an internet connection — ideal for travel or unplugged practice.
